The Atlantic Yards site, currently a LIRR train yard. There is currently a big battle against this project and it's use of eminent domain. One of the plans for the site is luxury housing and a new Brooklyn Nets Arena. Construction has recently started despite the current court battles.

More great photos. So, I'm sorry to be an annoying, nudge again, but:
The LIRR is not the Atlantic Yards site, the "Atlantic Yards" site is the LIRR rail yards (Vanderbilt Yards), city streets, and private property (thus the eminent domain controversy). Were the site only the rail yards there would be little to no controversy. The yards are about 8 acres while the whole "Atlantic Yards" site is 22.
As for construction starting, it has not started. what has started is some demolition of property the developer, Bruce Ratner, owns.
Perhaps you'd rather get involved in this "battle" rather than just sit on the sidelines. Consider fighting eminent doman abuse and over-development that benefits a billionaire developer. Make a donation to Develop Don't Destroy's Legal Fund - http://dddb.net/php/donate.php
